Do social situations tend to stress you out? You may feel it as raised heart rate, tension, alertness, shortness of breath - all signs of our bodily stress response. Making eye contact or opening up a conversation might seem so daunting. Your personal relationships might suffer too, and you feel you’re not living your life fully. At this point, you’re probably fed up with avoiding social situations and want to breakthrough.
Learn to overcome your social anxiety with dance therapy! We’re not pushing it away, we’d rather accept that it’s there and learn how to ‘dance’ with it!
Fear of being judged, negatively evaluated or rejected, could be among the reasons for social anxiety. They are the products of your mind, and yet they can change how your brain works as it copes with your anxiety. So why not, get the mind off the way and get into the body. Calm the mind by moving the body. Allow new experiences without any judgment.
Dance/movement therapy is a creative, experience-based form of therapy that integrates the body-mind-emotions. It taps into your intuitive, non-verbal, bodily knowing. Through your experiences, you reflect to create more awareness. This helps your brain creates new connections (neuroplasticity). This empowers you to make lasting change in your life.
Who is the workshop for?
If you want to be more at ease with yourself in social situations,
If you want to connect with others who share your struggle,
If you’re curious about dance therapy,
Then this is just the workshop for you!
In this workshop, we will cover the following:
These days we’re often in a rush. We start with an exercise on arriving - in the here and now, in your body, in the group. We listen to our body and set our intention.
💫 WARM-UP + CONNECTING GAME
We warm up our body and to each other. We introduce ourselves through a creative, non-verbal game. The fun part is how to do it with as few words as possible.
💫 EXPERIENTIAL EXERCISES
You’ll get explorative exercises in pairs or small groups. The aim is to be aware of your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations - self-awareness. You’ll have time in between to reflect and ask questions/feedback. We build up the exercises towards learning the skills to self-regulate.
💫 REFLECTION + SHARING
You’ll have time to take notes, create intuitive drawing, to reflect on your experience. We will close together with an opportunity for sharing.
At the end of the workshop you will receive:
✔️ Hands-on tools to regulate stress/panic in critical social situations
✔️ Handouts of exercises on self-awareness and self-regulation
✔️ Self-promise incl. tools you need to act on it
